The Gatherers

Today I wake up to a time
Flashes play over again in my mind
The gatherers sat among the feast
Eating away the lies of the beast
As an angel observed them with a stare
Looking to someone dear over there
Sadly, she sits around and wonders
Why her words do not sound like thunder
Alone trying hard not to believe
The gatherers drink the wine she bleeds
Following a creature without clarity
Blurred by what the angel clearly sees
Or have these lies fallen deep as they swallow
Never to expose them in a place so hallow
Why does this angel go through pain
Why do her tears fall down in heavy rain
She should have walked away long ago
But time has turned heavy rain to snow
And many seasons have surely passed
Though inside the angel's scars still last
Repeating the days that felt like forever
Of what her dear would never endeavor
